Shower curtains

Many people are unaware of the fact that plastic shower curtains and liners are made with polyvinyl chloride, which is a material that can offgas over 100 toxic chemicals. Plastic shower curtains and liners are usually coated with phtalates, which have been linked to cancer, hormone disruption and kidney and liver damage.

Using an eco friendly shower curtain means you won't be exposed to potentially harmful chemicals, and you will avoid the environmental damage associated with plastic production and disposal.

When you dispose of these shower curtains, they can’t be recycled. This means more plastic waste filling up our landfills.

So if you are ready to get rid of your shower curtain, you should opt for one that doesn’t contain toxins. You can find organic shower curtains made out materials such as cotton, linen or hemp. These shower curtains are durable, washable and don’t require a liner.

Some people have experienced mildew and mold on organic shower curtains. If you have this problem, run them through the washing machine with some tea tree oil, and then hang to dry, preferably in the sun. If you still have mold problems, installing a glass door for your shower is another alternative to using PVC plastic shower curtains.

If you still prefer plastic, there are some plastic shower curtains that are PVC-free.
